Weigela are flowering deciduous shrubs in the honeysuckle or Caprifoliaceae family that originate in eastern Asia.
What is a Weigela?
Weigela are hardy shrubs that range in size from 0.5m to over 3m tall. They have masses of beautiful lightly scented tubular flowers in summer which vary in colour from white through creams, yellows, oranges, pinks and reds. Foliage colours are also attractive with forms having green, red, purple and golden hues.

Weigela like a sunny or partially shaded spot with moist but well drained soil. Smaller forms are suited to patio pots or front of garden borders. Larger Weigela make attractive feature plants or hedges and screening.
How to care a Weigela?
Weigela are easy plants to look after. Water pot grown and young plants during dry spells. Prune Weigela after flowering to maintain plant shape. Mature plants benefit from old woody stems being removed in late winter to promote fresh new season growth.
