Potentilla or Cinquefoil are annual, biennial, herbaceous perennial or shrubby plants that are members of the Rosaceae family. They are native to many regions of the northern hemisphere.

What is a Potentilla?

Potentilla are hardy plant that often form low mounds of green or grey five fingered foliage around 0.5m to 1m tall. Flowers in white, yellow, orange, pink and red are carried above the foliage in summer and into autumn, the flowers will attract to bees and other pollinators.

Where to plant Potentilla?

Potentilla are happy in full sun or partial shade and a dry to moist but well drained soil. They can be used in patio pots or in garden borders where they will add a splash of summer colour. Potentilla help create classic cottage garden planting but they will also look good in gravel or coastal gardens.
