Laurus nobilis, commonly known as a Sweet Bay, Bay Laurel. Slow growing evergreen shrub. Leaves may be used as a flavouring in soups and stews, always wash leaves before use. Small, pale yellow green flowers in spring.
Laurus nobilis is best grown in well drained soil in full sun or partial shade in sheltered position. Ideal for growing in containers and for topiary use. Prune in late winter to maintain shape. Height up to 10m if not pruned. AGM
