Plant Information

Sambucus Black Lace, also known as Black Cut leaf Elder. Deep burgundy black dissected foliage contrasts with the creamy-pink flowers in spring. A perfect specimen shrub whose foliage colour is most intense in full sun.

Sambucus Black Lace can be left to grow into a tall shrub or can be trimmed back hard every spring to ensure young, vigorous, upright growth which bears the stunning black foliage lower. The pink flowers can be used to make cordial (or wine!) and the addition of a single umbel to a mix turns it pink!
