What is a Libertia?

Libertia are hardy narrow strappy leaved plants that grow to between 0.5m and 1m tall. They have attractive foliage ranging in colours from shades of green to vibrant gold and amber hues. White flowers are carried above the foliage in summer followed by attractive seed heads.

Where to plant Libertia?

Libertia like full sun and moist but well drained soil. They can be grown in patio pots or in the garden border where they look good grouped with grasses and other shrubs or perennials. The golden or amber foliage forms really glow in low early morning or evening light.

How to care for a Libertia?

Libertia are low maintenance plants. Water young and pot grown plants during dry spells. Remove spent flowers and seed heads and tidy up old foliage in early spring to allow new growth to develop. If your plants get too big they can be divided in spring or autumn.
