Hebe rakaiensis
A native New Zealand variety named after the Rakaia valley where it was first collected. A spreading shrub with a dense tidy habit and light green leaves. In June and July racemes up to 4cm in length of pure white flowers are producced in large numbers. This is a very usefull garden plant and works well in large plantings as it is low maintenance and easy to grow. Height 1.5 X 2m.
Hebe recurva Boughton Silver
A selection of recurva with a more dense habit and intensely silver blue foliage and narrow leaves, in May and June prolific flowers are borne on slender racemes these are pure white. A stunning variety for front of border or container use. Height 60cm x 75cm.
Hebe Red Edge
Raised by Graham Hutchins at County Park Nursery in Essex in the 1960's as a seedling from H. albicans. A rounded shrub with a dense, tidy habit - the leaves are glaucous with a distinct red edge to them, in the winter months the tips develop a red hue as well. In June and July mauve flowers are produced in short rounded spikes. Excellent garden plant or for use in large plantings. Height 60cm x 75cm.
Hebe Royal Blue
Striking evergreen shrub with large deep green glossy leaves and from July untill the first frosts large rounded racemes 10cm+ long of deep blue flowers are produced at the tips. Forms a rounded shrub 1.5m x 1.5m. May need frost protection in colder areas.
Hebe Sapphire
Free branching, mound forming evergreen shrub with deep green glossy leaves 4cm in length and 1.5cm wide which have a distinctive crumpled appearance, the stems are deep red and contrast with the foliage. From late June dense racemes of clear blue flowers are produced in large numbers. The variety is a very good garden plant plants which is hardy and easy to grow. Height 1m x 1m.
Hebe Silver Dollar
A compact variety which is a sport of H. Red Edge, it has rounded glaucous leaves which develop irregular creamy margins and red egdes in the winter months these red markings are most prominent in ther new growth at the tips. Occasional white flowers may be seen in the summer. Height 60cm x 60cm. Hardy.
Hebe Simon Delaux
An attractive speciosa hybrid which forms an attractive mounded shrub with deep green glossy leaves, the undersides of these are purple when young - this is most visible in the tips of the shoots where the undersides are displayed. From July until the first frosts masses of bright pinkish red flowers are carried in dense racemes 10cm+ in length with rounded ends. Height 1m x 1m.
Hebe Snowdrift
Large mound forming variety with deep green glossy lanceolate leaves 10cm in length, in July a large flush of flowers are carried on slender racemes 10cm+ in length, these are pale mauve and rapidly fade to pure white after the initial display flowers are then produced sporadically through into the autumn. This variety is excellent in coastal areas and can be used to produce a stunning flowering hedge. Height 2m x 2m. Hardy.
Hebe Super Red
A selection made at Wyevale Nurseries in Herefordshire from a batch of H. Red Edge. This variety is identical to red edge except that in winter it has much improved colours turning deep red across the plant - the colour also develops earlier than in Red Edge. The plant is primarily grown for its foliage and flowers only sporadically. Height 60cm. Hardy and easy to grow.
Hebe Sweet Kim
A sport of H. albicans discovered at Marchants Nursery in Dorset and first marketed in the UK by Lowaters Nursery in 2002. A compact plant with small glaucous leaves in winter months the tips turn have a glaucous stripe in the centre with creamy margins and pink tips and edges, in early summer some white flower may be seen. Height 30cm. Hardy evergreen.
